The remit: To provide a sound system into a church that has an unusual layout.
The church is constructed to provide seating in three alcove areas and also three balcony areas.
A 12/14 channel mixer installed at the back of the alcove was connected to an 8 channel multicore fitted beneath the floor terminating in a concealed stage box adjacent to the Communion Table.
Radio microphones, CD/Tape players were located beside the mixer and all the hardware housed in a portable 12U rack.
The system almost designed itself in that there were few options as to attaining a good intelligible response.
A good example of proximity of sound being more important than volume. The sound is evenly distributed throughout the church.
A Peavey RQ2314 (12/14 Channel) mixer was used to provide mixing facilities. This mixer is possibly the least complex on the market and is ideal when a variety of operators will be mixing the sound. (keep it simple)
A Peavey 31 band graphic equaliser along with a 360 watt 100 volt line amplifier drive 14 discreet fashion speakers. Two are located in each of the three distinct alcove areas, two located in each of the three balcony areas and two in the chancel area.
A Clockaudio lectern microphone was installed together with three Audio Technica UHF true diversity radio systems, (two x hand held and one lapel)
A Teac AD600 combined CD/Tape player/recorder was supplied along with a 12U ABS portable rack that houses all the hardware.
The portable Yamaha piano/keyboard is amplified to good effect through the system (an advantage of the extra headroom made available by the more powerful amplifier)
